My artwork has changed so much over the past few years. I am so happy with the progression as well. In the past, I was afraid to use a lot of shading, and wasn't as skilled with paints. Now I can see all that I have learned. This past year, especially, I have learned different techniques for painting with oils. Art class has helped me see different things in paintings. I can see the movement in different paintings. I also pick up on color schemes and different shapes artists incorporate throughout their paintings. I am so thankfully to have been in such a wonderful art class in which I learned so many helpful things. I will miss art and my art teacher after I graduate, but I hope to continue making art.

Artist Statement IV
May 22nd, 2013
Art is a way in which I can express myself. I love to use many different mediums in my artwork. Some of my favorites to work with include: pencil, oil paint, and acrylic paint. Someone of my best work is done when I am really interested in the piece. Art will always be a big part of my life. I enjoy all the different techniques you can use with paints, and all the different shading you can do with pencils.
Boat on the Ocean- Oil Paints
March-April 2013
When I first got this project I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Because of this, I began painting the whole canvas black. This worked in my favor and it gave a whole new look to the painting. I started painting the sky with a bunch of colors in order to make it look like a sunset. Then, I really wanted the water to look vibrant so I used a deep blue color. I started painting the rocks, which I'm still not totally happy with. I added little by little to the rocks while I also started working on the waves. I used many of the techniques I have learned the padt few years on this painting. When I was done, I knew the painting wasn't complete. I painted in the sail boat and the whole painting came together. I am very proud of this painting and I am so thankful that it will be hanging up in Representative Zorn's office from 2013 until 2014 because I was one of the winners in the Spring Art Challenge he hosted.
Sketch- Pencil
March 22, 2013
This was originally a painting done by Winslow Homer. This painting really appealed to me. I used pencil to draw a rough sketch of the original. I took only about a half an hour to sketch this. I really like the detail on my fish, but it definitely could have use more.
Collage- Multiple Mediums
February 2013
I was bored with the projects I was working on and reallt wanted to do something totally different. I started out by sponging rainbow colors on one piece of paper. Then I cut out the word "inspire" in the front piece of paper. After I glued the two pieces together. I wanted to do a collage with just magazine pictures, but then my ideas developed. I just used my imagination and was inspired to create this.
Eiffel Tower- Pencil and Glitter
January 2013
This drawing started out as just a sparkly background page in my sketch book. After I had finished painting on the gold and pink sparkles, something dawned on me. These colors, to me, bring out the true essence of what Paris, France is like. The Eiffel Tower just came naturally after that. I love drawing with pencil so this project was very entertaining.
Sketch Book Pages- Multiple Mediums
October-December 2012
I took some sketch book pages and decorated them up so they could be backgrounds for future sketches. Most of the pages have water color paint, but some also have stamps and tissue paper for the backgrounds.

Footprints in the Snow- Print
October & November 2012
I got out a piece of cardboard and applied a layer of gel medium. I then painted the background with a dark green color. I added some leafy things on top and then applied another layer of gel medium. I decided to get creative and use the type of stuffing that you put in pillows to make it look like snow. I added many layers of gel medium on top of that.
Print- Ink
October 2012
I used ink to paint the base of this print. After it was dry I etched out the flower and then painted it back in with a yellowish-white color. I tried to add a little bit of texture to it. I used the same ink to make the dots in the corners of the square. Lastly, I took black ink and made a feather coming out of the flower.
Print-Tempera Paint
October 2012
I used tempera paint to paint different designs on my print. It never actually was printed though because it did not work.
Jelly Bowl 1
September & October 2012
This is my first jelly bowl. I started out drawing a circle on a type of wax paper. I filled that circle with a thick layer of gel medium. Then I added a layer of leaves and colored tissue paper. I applied those with gel medium. Then I added the wire to the bowl with another layer of gel medium. My last layer was a string around the center of the bowl. After it was all dry I bent it to the shape I wanted.

Artist Statement III
October 30th, 2012
I love art so much. Some of my favorite utensils to draw with are pencil and paint brushes. In my pictures, I like to add a lot of shading. When I paint, I like to use acrylic. Watercolor is okay, but it is a tad hard to use in my opinion.

Water Scene- Acrylic
January 2012
I used acrylic paint to paint this water scene. I really like my waves and waterfall. I used a fan brush to paint all my trees and a flat brush for the sky and water. I used many different brushes for the waves and waterfall.
Music- Pastel & Water Color
January 12, 2012
I chose a song, Still Rock and Roll to Me by Billy Joel, and made it into a picture. It's from the 80s so I incorporated many 80s colors and themes. I used pastel for most of it and then used water color to paint over it. When I got done painting with water color I used some different techniques.

Artist Statement II
My artwork has changed so much in the past year and it's because I'm realizing what mediums I'm good with. I still love my pencil drawings, but I'm starting to like painting with acrylics. Painting and drawing is am awesome way for me to express myself. I'm very glad I've had the opportunity to take an art class in high school. It really shows how much potential I have.

Acrylic Paint- Trees, Waves, & Waterfalls
February-March 2012
On the left hand side of the page I painted a waterfall. On the top right I painted pine trees, with a reflection of them into the water. Finally, on the bottom right I painted a wave. I think this wave looks really good. Both the waterfall and wave was painted using a fan brush.
