Four Years in Review

May 22nd, 2013

My artwork has changed so much over the past few years. I am so happy with the progression as well. In the past, I was afraid to use a lot of shading, and wasn't as skilled with paints. Now I can see all that I have learned. This past year, especially, I have learned different techniques for painting with oils. Art class has helped me see different things in paintings. I can see the movement in different paintings. I also pick up on color schemes and different shapes artists incorporate throughout their paintings. I am so thankfully to have been in such a wonderful art class in which I learned so many helpful things. I will miss art and my art teacher after I graduate, but I hope to continue making art.

Artist Statement IV

May 22nd, 2013

Art is a way in which I can express myself. I love to use many different mediums in my artwork. Some of my favorites to work with include: pencil, oil paint, and acrylic paint. Someone of my best work is done when I am really interested in the piece. Art will always be a big part of my life. I enjoy all the different techniques you can use with paints, and all the different shading you can do with pencils.

Boat on the Ocean- Oil Paints

March-April 2013

When I first got this project I wasn't sure what I was going to do. Because of this, I began painting the whole canvas black. This worked in my favor and it gave a whole new look to the painting. I started painting the sky with a bunch of colors in order to make it look like a sunset. Then, I really wanted the water to look vibrant so I used a deep blue color. I started painting the rocks, which I'm still not totally happy with. I added little by little to the rocks while I also started working on the waves. I used many of the techniques I have learned the padt few years on this painting. When I was done, I knew the painting wasn't complete. I painted in the sail boat and the whole painting came together. I am very proud of this painting and I am so thankful that it will be hanging up in Representative Zorn's office from 2013 until 2014 because I was one of the winners in the Spring Art Challenge he hosted.

Sketch- Pencil

March 22, 2013

This was originally a painting done by Winslow Homer. This painting really appealed to me. I used pencil to draw a rough sketch of the original. I took only about a half an hour to sketch this. I really like the detail on my fish, but it definitely could have use more.

Collage- Multiple Mediums

February 2013

I was bored with the projects I was working on and reallt wanted to do something totally different. I started out by sponging rainbow colors on one piece of paper. Then I cut out the word "inspire" in the front piece of paper. After I glued the two pieces together. I wanted to do a collage with just magazine pictures, but then my ideas developed. I just used my imagination and was inspired to create this.

Eiffel Tower- Pencil and Glitter

January 2013

This drawing started out as just a sparkly background page in my sketch book. After I had finished painting on the gold and pink sparkles, something dawned on me. These colors, to me, bring out the true essence of what Paris, France is like. The Eiffel Tower just came naturally after that. I love drawing with pencil so this project was very entertaining.

Sketch Book Pages- Multiple Mediums

October-December 2012

I took some sketch book pages and decorated them up so they could be backgrounds for future sketches. Most of the pages have water color paint, but some also have stamps and tissue paper for the backgrounds.
